Szczecin is Poland's biggest harbor and is situated in the very north west of Poland, just two hours drive north of Berlin. There's a large student population which means a pumping atmosphere, cheap drinks and fit girls. What more could you want? Population of Szczecin: 427,500
The official language is Polish. Many of the locals speak great English so they'll understand your abysmal chat-up lines.
Evening Entertainment: Szczecin's down town boasts a huge number of places to eat, drink and be merry. There are bars, an abundance of funky nightclubs and some slightly more ‘adult' clubs if that's your cup of tea. We've got all of the best places sussed so you won't end up trawling the streets all night only to end up at a German techno night in a disused public toilet...unless that's what you want. Opening hours are flexible and basically if people are drinking, the barman is pouring. Prices have remained low and a pint rarely exceeds 8zl (less than £2).

How to reach
Szczecin - capital of Western Pomerania in the far north west of Poland is easy to reach with Ryanair’s direct flight from London Stansted. Alternative you can fligh to Berlin, 130km south, and we will arrange your private transfer to Poland’s biggest harbor. The direct Ryanair flights arrive at Szczecin Airport, 45km north of the city, which is only a 35-minute transfer to the center.

Transfers
All our packages include transfers. This will start at the Szczecin airport after your arrival, continue on the second day to bring you to the sites of your chosen activity and finish on day three, with taking you back to Szczecin airport. Besides, from Szczecin airport it's about 35 minutes drive to the Szczecin city center. If you choose to fly via Berlin we are glad to arrange your private transfer to Szczecin for some extra charge.

Szczecin is one of the cradles of the Polish Solidarity movement from the 1980th; where on August 30th “the Szczecin Interfactory Strike Committee signs an agreement with government representatives, it is ... imprecise and terse regarding political demands.” One day later, the agreement is signed in Gdansk, the strike is finished; the first step to tow down the “Iron Curtain” is done.

With "Trails of Solidarity" we will bring you back in time to show you Polands fight for freedom and independence during the last decades, as well as during the last three centuries. Our tour starts at the main entrance of the Szczecin shipyard, follows the route of striking workers from the december 1970th uprise, visits theirs gravefields on the central cemetry and does not even finish with a visit at the exhibition recalling the last 60 years of Szczecin live in the Nationalmuseum.

Cradle of space exploration or breeding ground of terror weapons and mass murder? - Peenemünde is both.

The museum tells in graphic form the story of the most spectacular, and at the same time most threatening, breakthrough of the 20th century.

The "reprisal weapon V2" was developed in Peenemünde; its production cost the lives of tens of thousands of prisoners and as well as being a prototype military ballistic missile it was to become the forerunner of the space shot carrier rockets. The outdoor part of the museum has exhibits of rockets, different aircraft, a helicopter and a rocket ship.

Prussia to Russia
Swinoujscie (Swinemuende) Fortresses

In the middle of the 19th century the Germans built fortresses at both sides of the harbor in Swinemünde, most probably because of the experience they underwent in 1848, when Danish troops blockaded the harbor. After 1945 this fortresses had been used by the Russian Navy, before they fall into ruins during the last decade.

The Ostbatterie (now "Gerhard Fort"), as a part of the Swinemünde fortress, is located on the right bank of the Swina river near the lighthouse. Built in 1848-59 and modernized many times since then, it's form is characteristic of Prussian fortifications.

Due to its location and firepower it was the most important fort in the area. For a long time, bushes and trees overgrew the whole area of the fortress. In 2001, an enthusiast "commander" leased the fortress with the aim of continuing reconstruction and opening it to the public as an attraction

Borne Sulinowo
Borne Sulinowo (German Gross-Born) is a town in Poland's Western Pomeranian Voivodship. It is home to 4149 inhabitants (as of April of 2005).

In 1933 the new German authorities bought all of the area and started the construction of a large military base, a training ground and various testing grounds there. Most of the local inhabitants were resettled and their homes levelled to the ground.

After the war, the area of two military bases and the town itself was taken by the Red Army. There the Soviet military established one of the biggest military camps of the Northern Group of Armies. The town was excluded from Polish jurisdiction and erased from all maps. In official documents of the surrounding communes, the area of former Gross-Born and the surrounding 180 km² were called forest areas and remained a secret for almost 50 years.

The last of the large Russian units was withdrawn from Borne Sulinowo in October of 1992. The town became a part of Poland.
In April 1993 the town was passed to civilian authorities - for the first time since 19th century

History of 'SS' STETTIN
Built by the Stettiner Oderwerke, the "Stettin", the then largest ice-breaker flying the German flag, was commissioned on the 16th November 1933. The Chamber of Commerce, Stettin, was the owner, and the operational area of the ship was the River Oder and the Bay of Stettin. At the end of the war, the "Stettin" escaped to the west and was administered by the Water and Shipping Office, Hamburg, (W.S.A.). She was berthed at the Buoy Yard at Wedel near Hamburg.		She was until 1981 in service, and was often engaged during winter on the River Elbe, the Kiel Canal, Kiel Bay, and the Baltic. The Ice-Breaker "Stettin" Association was founded to preserve the ship as a technological and cultural monument for future generations. The "Stettin" serves during the summer taking guests on pleasure trips. During the rest of the year, she is berthed as a museum ship at the museum port Oevelgönne in Hamburg.

	DIETRICH BONHOEFFER Pomeranian places of his life "The ultimate question for a responsible man to ask is not how he is to extricate himself heroically from the affair, but how the coming generation shall continue to live." Dietrich Bonhoeffer, After Ten Years (December 1942) Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Pastor, Theologian, Resister, born 6th February 1906 executed 9th April 1945, an outstanding theologian of the German Protestant Church who became a major figure in the Church's resistance movement, was honored in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey on 1 April 2005, just days before the 60th Anniversary of his execution by the Nazis on 9 April 1945. A statue of Bonhoeffer, one of ten on the Abbey's West Front which celebrate the lives of Christian Martyrs in the 20 Century, was unveiled by HM the Queen on 9 July 1998..... Our guided tour will take you to important Bonhoeffer sites now in Poland. Within Szczecin we will bring you to the former FINKENWALDE. Two days we will tour through the eastern part of Pomerania visiting sites like KLEIN KROESSIN, SIGURDSHOF, SCHLAWE and other places Bonhoeffer was hiding his fellow priests and began his resistance.
